- Scan computer for trouble codes, has codes P0301, P0171, and P0174 present. Monitor fuel trim data, all components operating correctly, within specs. Vehicle needs spark plug replacement, was due at 100,000 miles, has OEM plugs still installed. Recommend replacement first. Customer advised this is a spark plug style that commonly beaks in cylinder head upon extraction, and may require extra labor to remove broken spark plug tips. Also advised of possibility of metal electrode tip falling into cylinder. Repairs approved, performed as noted below.
- Remove old spark plugs, 2 spark plugs broke off upon removal, requiring extraction of electrode tip / lower half of spark plug. Install new spark plugs and torque to specs. Clear trouble codes and road tested vehicle upon completion. No further misfiring, no recurring trouble codes at this time.
- Labor to extract 2 plug tips @ 70.00 each
